HOW TO PLAY

A focus test in one minute

Press Start daily challenge above. After a three-second countdown, this focus test shows 50 numbers over 60 seconds. Tap inside the box for every number except 3. On a computer, you can click or press Space.

7TapAny number except 3
3WaitLet this one pass
One rule for the whole focus test. Tap other numbers; skip 3.

Each digit appears for 250ms. You can still respond after it disappears, until the next number arrives at 1.2 seconds. Only your first tap counts. Leaving the page or switching apps ends the round without a score or a used attempt.

Attention span: what one minute can show

This focus test samples a single minute of a repeating task. It does not tell you how many minutes you can study, read or work. A missed number records an unanswered prompt; it cannot tell us why you missed it. Use the focus test as a record of this round, with your device and surroundings in mind.

Sustained attention: keep the rule in mind

The rule stays the same throughout the focus test. The task is to keep responding to the right numbers until time runs out. Missed counts the non-3 numbers you let pass. Variability shows how much your correct response times differ, using standard deviation divided by mean response time. Lower variability means steadier timing within that focus test round.

Impulse control: let the 3s pass

Ten of the 50 numbers are 3s. These are the moments to hold back in the focus test. Tapping a 3 adds one false tap, even if you tap it repeatedly. Correctly skipping all ten earns the full 25 points for response inhibition. The focus test records those choices without making a judgment about your impulse control in everyday life.

Reaction time: read speed alongside mistakes

In this focus test, reaction time starts when each number is scheduled to appear. Average response includes correct taps only. A 300ms average or faster earns all 20 speed points; the contribution falls to zero at 1,000ms. A slower tap can still count as correct until 1,200ms. Compare focus test rounds on the same device, using the same input method.

How your focus test score is calculated

The focus test adds up four contributions, then rounds the total to a whole number out of 100.

  • Correct taps, up to 45 points. Correct non-3 taps divided by 40, multiplied by 45.
  • Skipped 3s, up to 25 points. Correct skips divided by 10, multiplied by 25.
  • Speed, up to 20 points. 20 × (1 − (average response in ms − 300) / 700), limited to 0–20.
  • Consistency, up to 10 points. 10 × (1 − variability), limited to 0–10.

With no correct taps, speed and consistency earn zero. Consistency also earns zero with fewer than two correct taps or a mean response time of zero.

Accuracy is separate from your focus test score. It is (50 − missed − false taps) / 50. Each error lowers accuracy by two percentage points. Tap all 40 non-3 numbers and two 3s, and accuracy is 96%. Tap nothing, and accuracy is 20% with a score of 25, because you skipped all ten 3s.

Your focus test label comes from these fixed ranges. Even “Average” is a game label, not a measured population average. We do not collect a player score distribution, so no percentile or “better than other players” comparison is available.

Your daily focus test

You get three completed daily attempts, using the same sequence for that UTC date. Your best score and each round's details stay in this browser. After all three, practice opens with fresh numbers; practice scores are not saved or shared. See your daily challenge history for past focus test results and the next reset time.

A shared focus test link shows the score's date. Opening it lets someone play today's challenge, so scores from different dates are not results from the same sequence.

Focus test questions

What is a Focus Test?

A focus test gives you a task and records how you respond. Here, you tap every number except 3 for 60 seconds. You get a score, accuracy, missed numbers, false taps and response timing. This focus test describes one round of play; it does not measure every aspect of your attention.

What is a good score on this attention test?

In this focus test, 75–89 earns Sharp and 90–100 earns Laser Focus. Accuracy covers all 50 numbers, including correctly skipped 3s. Missed counts numbers you should have tapped. False taps counts the 3s you tapped. These score bands are game rules, not population averages or percentiles. Compare your focus test results with your own past rounds on the same device.

Is faster reaction time always better?

No. Speed contributes up to 20 points in this focus test, while correct taps and skipped 3s contribute up to 70. Rushing can cost more than it earns. Once your average correct response is 300ms or faster, you already have all 20 speed points. Faster taps give no extra speed points.

Is this focus test free and private?

Yes. This focus test is free, with no account or email required. Scores stay in this browser and are not sent to a leaderboard. A link you choose to share includes your score and its UTC date. Clearing site data removes your saved rounds; another browser, device or website address has separate records.

Can this test diagnose ADHD?

No. This focus test is a game that records attention and reaction performance during one minute. It cannot diagnose ADHD or another condition, and a low score is not evidence of a disorder. For concerns about your attention, seek an assessment from a qualified health professional.
